The "Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Business Mission to Japan" was jointly organised by Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA)and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

The delegation visited variou medical and healthcare product manufacturing plants & related institute and the medical product exposition --- The International Modern Hospital Show 2010 in Tokyo.

Medical Device Regulatory and Marketing Course (10 September 2010 – 26 November 2010)

Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA) and the Integrated Vocational Development Centre (IVDC) of Vocational Training Council (VTC) are jointly organising the third certificate program“Medical Device Regulatory and Marketing Course”. This program aims at enhancing the overall knowledge and quality for professional sales & marketing personnel in related to the medical devices industry. Class contents focus on Medical device and diseases, Marketing practice guideline, Business ethics, Regulatory requirement in ISO13485 and ISO14971, Product registration related issue at HKMDCO. All of the class lecturers are qualified professionals from academic as well as the industrial sectors.

Target Participant : Medical Device Regulatory and Marketing Personnel, and related trade people
Course Duration : 30 Hours
Course Schedule : 10 September 2010 – 26 November 2010 (10 Friday sessions, except 1 Oct & 19 Nov 2010)
Entry Requirements : Possessing a relevant Diploma or equivalent, or Processing at least 3 years relevant working experience
Class Venue : Integrated Vocational Development Centre (IVDC), 23 Broadway, Stage One, Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Kowloon
Medium Instruction : English supplemented with Cantonese terminology (Course materials and assessment are in English)
Tuition : HK$3,500 per person
Certificate will be awarded to those who have successfully completed the course (passed the examination and achieved no less than 70% attendance rate)

Membership activities: Squid Fishing Event in Summer - 9th July 2010 (Friday)

The "Squid Fishing Event" was held on the 9th of July 2010. The purpose of such event is to facilitate the understanding between members of medical and healthcare industry in Hong Kong, and to take part in the experience sharing and networking chance. Biomedical Product Development Collaboration Opportunity at HKU: Technological Seminars and Opportunity Matching (30 April 2010)

The “Training & Education Panel” and “Technology & Product Development Panel” of Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA) and Faculty of Engineering HKU co-organised a half-day event “Biomedical Product Development Collaboration Opportunity at HKU: Technological Seminars and Opportunity Matching” on the 30th of April 2010 (Friday) at the University of Hong Kong.

This half day exciting event provided all participants the latest biomedical research in diverse areas including MRI, Medical Ultrasound, Airway Inflammation, Photochemical and Tissue Bonding. Biomedical Product Development Collaboration Opportunity at PolyU:Technological Seminars and Laboratories Visit

The Training & Education Panel and Technology & Product Development Panel of Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA) and the Partnership Development Office of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University co-organised a full-day event “ Biomedical Product Development Collaboration Opportunity at Poly U: Technological Seminars and Laboratories Visit ” on the 31 st of March 2010 (Wednesday) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

This one day event includes technological seminars, a dim-sum lunch gathering with research scientists and three laboratories visit covering Burns and neuro-rehabilitation science, Ultrasonic imaging for disease diagnosis and Care apparel centre.

HKMHDIA New Members Orientation Spring Dinner

The New Members Orientation Spring Dinner was held on the 15th of March 2010 at Yau Yat Chuen Garden City Club. In the event, Prof. John Chai, the Chairman of HKMHDIA introduced the upcoming local and overseas medical and heath care events and activities organizing by HKMHDIA, which are in line with the Association’s Mission to facilitate the understanding of new members on the rapid-growing medical and health care device industries, and experience sharing after the Hong Kong International Medical devices and supplies Fair 2009.

Blessing Bags Giving Event for the Deprived Elderly - 香港紅十字會醫護服務部主辦「人道關愛福滿載」

Hong Kong Redcross organised “Blessing Bags Giving Event for the Deprived Elderly” on the 7th of February 2010. About 50 HKMHDIA members joined this event as volunteers to visit 500 elderly people living in Kwai Shing East Estate.

2010 IVDC Carnival (2010 IVDC 慈善繽紛嘉年華) 30th January 2010

2010 IVDC Carnival was held on the 30th of January 2010 in Causeway Bay. Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA) was one of the Red-Diamond Sponsor of the captioned event. Our member companies had donated various valuable items for charity sales for The Community Chest. Treasurer of HKMHDIA, Mr. Otto To had attended the opening ceremony and received a souvenir on behalf of HKMHDIA.

Local Responsible Persons (LRP) and Clinical Trial Discussion Seminar (15th January 2010)

The Local Responsible Persons (LRP) and Clinical Trial Discussion Seminar was held on the 15th of January 2010. HKMHDIA is working closely with Medical Device Control Office (MDCO) working group in the consultation of improving the Local Responsible Person (LRP) quality management system. Meanwhile, MDCO has also published the proposed Guidance Notes for Applicants of the Certificate for Clinical Trial on Medical Device (Proposed Guidance Notes) for public consultation of which the closing date for comments is 31 January 2010. In this discussion seminar, the Regulatory and Quality Affairs Panel of the HKMHDIA have provided updated information to members on the latest development of the LRP QMS proposal and also offered an overview on the Proposed Guidance Notes. Feedback from participants were collected and will be conveyed to MDCO working groups via the HKMHDIA.
